From Wood Shop to 3D Studio: The CraftLineArt Story
It started in Hawaii, building clocks and gifts for tourists with my hands and basic woodworking tools. From there I moved into serious furniture work — kitchen cabinets, koa wood furniture, grandfather clocks — pieces built to last generations. Eventually I found my way to Colorado, still working wood, still building by hand.
A life change led me toward drum building, and that’s where things started to shift. I wanted a better way to work — one that didn’t depend on hiring and managing a crew just to keep up. So I built my own CNC machine. That single decision opened a door I didn’t expect: CNC led me to 3D printers — essentially mini CNCs of their own — and suddenly I wasn’t just building drums anymore. I was designing vases, lamps, and small custom pieces, all shaped in Blender, the same 3D software I use to run a full drum customizer for my other business.
Somewhere in that process, a laser cutter joined the shop too — repurposing leftover drum veneers into new materials rather than letting them go to waste.
That’s the short version of how CraftLineArt came to be: not a factory, not a team, just one craftsman who kept following the next tool and the next material wherever it led.
